The Impossible Dream

We're just a small group of people, brought together by our love of roleplaying games, and our interest in trying new things and experimenting. The creative team is made up of Akira! Barnes, Dan Bongert, Epidiah Ravachol, and woodelf -- they're the ones whose names you'll see over and over in the credits for our games. The people you'll actually meet at conventions are the members of woodelf and Crew, our playtest arm. They are Nat Barmore, Akira! Barnes, Dan Bongert, and Epidiah Ravachol.

This particular group originally got together as a gaming group, specifically assembled to try out new games and new styles of gaming, some commercial, some home-grown. Nat carefully selected among the gamers he knew those who were most of a like mind, willing to experiment. That was about 6 years ago, and since then membership has changed, with only Dan and Nat remaining of the original small group. Akira! joined very shortly after its initial inception, and Eppy joined once he moved back into town. About that time, we really started writing our own game systems, sometimes to solve a concrete problem, sometimes to explore a thought experiment. Some of them turned out really well, and we thought maybe we should start sharing them with others. So, here we are: a website with content ranging from sketches of ideas to near-professional products, and demos of our games and settings at whatever conventions we can make it to.

Nat

Nat doesn't do much of the creative work around here. His current proudest accomplishment for The Impossible Dream is coming up with the name for Advanced Dimensional Green Ninja-Educational Preparatory Super-Elementary Fortress 555 -- "Green" was entirely his idea. Other than that, he does lots of the coordination work, especially booking conventions. Ask him to do his Secret Go-Racer if you see him.

Akira!

Akira! (yes, that really is his name -- well, except for the exclamation point) is one of those indespensible zany charismatic sorts. Lots of little contributions to the games are his -- you know the type: the details that are all-important but tend to not be easily separated, and thus credited. He's good at giving things just the right ring. In particular, he is responsible for the convention write-ups of all the ADGNEPSEF555 kids, as well as procuring their props (not to mention all the work he did on creating them in the first place). He's the primary force behind turning their stats into characters that anyone can play. If you've seen those character sheets, you'll understand what we mean. He's also the friendliest guy around, so he's in charge of making everything run smoother at conventions, principly by making friends, whether he tries or not. Ask him to do his Martin the Mercurian when you see him.

Dan

Dan is the author of Tech Noir. He also is responsible for the convention write-ups of the Four Colors al Fresco characters, and thus is the one that gave them flavor. Most notably, he is to be blamed for the sonnet that is Cricket's character sheet. And, of course, he has done a great deal of work on Ogalepihcra and Advanced Dimensional Green Ninja-Educational Preparatory Super-Elementary Fortress 555. He and Akira! are to be credited with much of the cosmology of the Rumel. Ask him to do Victor von Bismark next time you see him at a convention.

Eppy

Eppy's currently living in Green Bay, having abandoned us for gainful employment. Well, only abandoned us in body -- he may not attend Wednesday-night gaming sessions any more, but he's still working with us, and he now has access to a whole 'nother pool of gamers for playtesting. He is the primary author of Dread, and co-creator of the original Four Colors al Fresco mechanics, and, like all of us, has had a significant hand in the settings of Ogalepihcra and Advanced Dimensional Green Ninja-Educational Preparatory Super-Elementary Fortress 555. Ask him to do a bit of Mirielle 47 when you see him in person.

woodelf

woodelf is the primary author for Four Colors al Fresco, and co-creator of Dread. woodelf also is the one to blame for Ogalepihcra using the Aria system. You can also credit woodelf with Arcane Space, A Galaxy Far, Far Everway, and Galactic Network, all in various stages of incompletion.

Freelancers

We're also working with a few freelancers for some of our projects. Seth Riley is co-creator of Tech Noir. ________ is probably doing art for Four Colors al Fresco (still have to iron out the details). Jill Krynicki is illustrating the world of Ogalepihcra. Peter Keller has done several "covers" for the Four Colors al Fresco convention issues.
